TL;DR
A synchronicity is a meaningful coincidence: an inner image and an outer event match, with no causal link between them. Jung called this an acausal connecting principle. Notice the rhyme, write it down the same day, and keep the next choice in your own hands.

What Is a Synchronicity and How to Hold One
A synchronicity is a coincidence that carries a precise personal meaning: two events match in image or theme, with no causal chain between them. Carl Jung called this an acausal connecting principle, a way inner life and outer event can rhyme. You hold one by noticing the match, writing it down, and keeping the next decision in your own hands.
What did Jung mean by synchronicity?
Jung used synchronicity for events that fall together in time and in meaning, without one causing the other. He set the idea out in Synchronicity: An Acausal Connecting Principle.

You may already know this in your body. A thought, a dream, or an inner image meets an outer event that shares the same motif.
For him the correspondence lived in the meaning rather than in a hidden mechanical push.
In that same work, he offered this example. A patient told him a dream of a golden scarab. As she spoke, a beetle of that family appeared at the window. Jung treated that pairing as synchronicity: same symbol, same moment, no causal link.
You do not have to adopt his whole psychology to use the word carefully. Use it when inner and outer share an image you did not stage.
How do you tell synchronicity from ordinary chance?
A synchronicity is odd in a personally exact way: the image you were already carrying shows up outside, in a form you did not arrange.

You can be startled by a rare event and feel no click of recognition.
Treat the click as information about your attention and leave prophecy out of it.
If you have to stretch the story to make the two sides fit, you are forcing it. Let that one go. Real pairings are usually brief and specific.
Ask one question: what was live in me, and what appeared?
How should you hold a meaningful coincidence?
Write it down the same day. Date, what you were thinking or dreaming, what appeared, the shared image. Leave space for what you did next.

Do not convert it into a verdict on a job, a relationship, or a move before you have sat with the image. A coincidence can open a question without taking your choice away.
Stay with the quality the image carries. Timing, a boundary, a gift you have been skipping, a truth you already knew.
Then pick one ordinary action this week that honors that quality. Small and physical beats grand and vague.
If the same motif keeps returning and you want a structured mirror for it, Get your Soul Blueprint or Shop readings. Treat those as reflection, never as medical, financial, legal, or psychological advice, and never as a guaranteed forecast.
When does synchronicity turn into a trap?
It turns when you hunt for signs so you can avoid deciding. License plates, repeated numbers, stray lyrics: the world is full of pattern.

Pattern-seeking is what a mind does.
The trouble starts when you delay a necessary choice until the outer world votes, which is hiding behind pattern.
If a coincidence inflates you or scares you, stop interpreting. Eat. Walk. Speak to someone who is not inside the story.
Meaning can be real without becoming a command, and you remain responsible for the next step.

When something rhymes, write three lines: what you were thinking, what appeared, what you will do by Friday.
Read the three lines the next morning. Keep the action small enough to finish. You are training attention.
If nothing rhymes this week, write the days anyway so you stay in conversation with your life.
